Compared to June 2016, the June 2017 Tulare County Employment Report shows a 0.4 percent decrease in the unemployment rate, and an increase in employment. Additional highlights from the recent report include:
Tulare County's unemployment rate was 9.9 percent in June 2017, lower than the year-ago estimate of 10.3 percent.
The industries with the largest numerical month-over growth include Construction and Nondurable Goods (Manufacturing). Farm experienced the largest month-over numerical decline in jobs.
Employment increased by 2,400 year over year and the labor force increased by 1,600.

HOW DOES TULARE COUNTY'S EMPLOYMENT RATE CHANGE OVER TIME? .
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported a 0.4 percent decrease in Tulare County's unemployment rate, from 10.3 percent in June 2016 to 9.9 percent in June 2017.
The month over month increase of 1.2 percent is higher than the 10-year May to June approximate average change of 0.6 percent. The June 2017 unemployment rate is down from a recession high of 16.2 percent in June 2011.

HOW MANY JOBS HAVE COME AND GONE IN THE LAST YEAR + LAST MONTH?
YEAR OVER YEAR | A COMPARISON
From June 2016 to June 2017, Educational & Health Services showed the greatest numerical gain with an increase of 1,300 jobs, while Construction saw that greatest percentage gain of 15 percent job growth in the region. Professional & Business Services saw the greatest numerical decline of 400 jobs and the largest percent decline of 4 percent of jobs.
MONTH OVER MONTH | A COMPARISON
Construction showed the greatest month-over numerical gain with an increase of 200 jobs, and a 3 percent increase in jobs over all. Farm saw the largest numerical decline with a loss of 1,100 jobs, and a 2 percent decrease overall.
